Comparing casinos on their welcome offer is like comparing cars on the colour of their paintwork. The advertised amount grabs your attention, but it is the terms, the timescales and the safeguards that make the difference when you come to withdraw. This guide offers a method for comparing on measurable criteria, paying particular attention to the quality of the data itself.
Start with your own criteria
Before comparing, decide what matters to you. A few questions are enough:
- How much do you plan to deposit, and how often?
- Do you want a bonus, or would you rather play without conditions?
- Which payment methods do you use, and in particular which cryptocurrencies and networks?
- Are you prepared to send identity documents, and at what point?
- Does the casino accept players from your country, and is online gambling legal there?
A casino that suits a player depositing small amounts in cryptocurrency will not necessarily suit a player depositing larger amounts by card.
The real cost of a bonus
To compare two bonuses, convert them into comparable figures:
- Calculate the bonus you will actually receive for your deposit amount, taking into account the percentage and the cap.
- Convert the wagering into a volume of stakes in euros, on the same basis.
- Estimate the expected cost of that volume using the return to player of the games you will play.
- Factor in the maximum bet, the time limit and the winnings cap.
Fictional example: offer A gives €100 with 35x the bonus, i.e. €3,500 in stakes; offer B gives a €150 bonus for a €150 deposit, with 40x the deposit and bonus, i.e. 40 × €300 = €12,000 in stakes. Offer B shows a larger bonus but requires more than three times the volume of stakes of offer A. The guides on reading a bonus and on wagering, in the guides section, explain these calculations in detail.
The criteria that matter when you withdraw
Withdrawal terms
Compare the advertised processing times, the pending period, the minimum withdrawal, the limits per day, per week and per month, and the fees. A low monthly limit can matter more than a slightly longer processing time.
KYC policy
Note when verification is requested, which documents are required and what the terms say about a late check. A clear policy, applied from sign-up, is often better than an advertised absence of checks that can be called into question when you win.
The licence
Check that the licence exists in the register of the authority, that the company matches and that the licence is active. Also compare the safeguards offered by each authority, which are not equivalent.
Payment methods
A payment method is only useful if it works both ways. Check that it is accepted for withdrawals, not just deposits, and, for cryptocurrencies, which networks are supported.
Availability in your country
A casino may refuse players from certain countries, or accept them while restricting certain games or bonuses. Check the list of excluded countries in the terms and conditions, and remember that being accepted by the casino says nothing about whether online gambling is legal in your country.
The quality of each data point
A comparison is only as reliable as its data. For each piece of information, ask three questions.
Where does it come from? A terms and conditions page, an official register or a real-money test do not carry the same weight as a promotional page or an unsourced review.
When was it verified? Bonus terms, limits and payment methods change regularly. A data point that was accurate a year ago may be wrong today.
Is it proven or merely declared? A value without a dated source should be read as an indication, not as an established fact.
Using our comparison
Our comparison shows the same data side by side for several casinos: bonus, minimum deposit, wagering, maximum bet, KYC, withdrawals, cryptocurrencies and licence. Each value comes with its proof level and verification date; a value whose proof is missing or has expired is flagged as such. How this data is collected, proven and updated is described in the methodology. The site is funded by affiliate commissions; the affiliate disclosure page explains why this funding does not influence the data we publish.
Whatever the result of a comparison, bear in mind that no casino guarantees a win and that gambling remains an expense.
