Bonus hunt: definition and example

Session in which you collect bonus rounds on several slots before opening them one by one, to compare the total with the budget.

Definition

A bonus hunt means playing on several slots until each one triggers its bonus feature, without opening it straight away, then opening all the bonuses at the end. The amount won is then compared with the budget spent.

Example

A hunt of 10 bonuses with a €500 budget has to pay €50 per bonus on average to break even.

What to check

A bonus hunt does not change the RTP of the slots: it is a way of playing, not a winning strategy.

  • Bonus buy

    Option on some slots that lets you pay, often a high multiple of the bet, to trigger the bonus rounds directly.

  • Volatility

    How a slot machine spreads its winnings: small and frequent wins (low volatility) or rare and large ones (high volatility).

  • RTP (return to player)

    Average share of stakes paid back to players over a very large number of games: a 96% RTP keeps 4% of stakes on average.
