RTP (return to player): definition and example

Average share of stakes paid back to players over a very large number of games: a 96% RTP keeps 4% of stakes on average.

Definition

RTP, or return to player, is a theoretical average calculated over millions of games. It says nothing about the result of a session: you can lose far more, or win. The higher it is, the less the game costs on average.

Example

Out of €1,000 bet in total on a 96% slot, the game pays back €960 on average, an average loss of €40.

What to check

Some slots exist in several RTP versions: check the one shown in the game information at the casino where you play.
