KYC (identity verification): definition and example

Check of the player’s identity and address, required by regulation and usually carried out before the first withdrawal.

Definition

KYC stands for “Know Your Customer”. To fight fraud and money laundering, the casino asks for an ID document, proof of address and sometimes proof of the payment method. Depending on the casino, verification takes place at sign-up, at the first withdrawal or above a threshold.

Example

A casino that verifies at the first withdrawal may hold that withdrawal for several days while it reviews the documents you sent.

What to check

Send your documents as soon as you sign up so as not to delay your first withdrawal, and use a payment method in your own name.
