Progressive jackpot: definition and example
Big prize that grows with every bet placed on a game, sometimes across several casinos at once, until a player wins it.
Definition
A small share of each bet feeds the jackpot, which grows until it is won and then restarts from a base amount. That share is taken from the game’s RTP: the base game therefore returns less than a slot without a jackpot.
Example
A 96% slot in which 2 points fund the jackpot returns only 94% on average to those who do not win it.
What to check
Some jackpots require a minimum or maximum bet to be won: read the game rules.
